Formed in 1972, the Stargate Group is one of the most respected names in the Australian mortgage and financial services industry.

Having first pioneered the non-bank wholesale lending market, the Stargate Group later helped change the Australian mortgage landscape forever by creating the first residential mortgage-backed securities in 1977, co-founding the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia in 1980, and establishing one of the nation’s largest non-bank lenders, Interstar, in 1991. The Stargate Group has evolved into the premier mortgage services support enterprise in the nation. Aiming to provide excellence in mortgage support services, Stargate now offers leading edge technology and mortgage solutions as well as expertise in consulting services.

With over 40 years of financial services industry experience, Stargate has worked with major lenders, mortgage insurers, rating agencies, credit reporting bureaus, thousands of mortgage originators and brokers, settlement service providers and third party IT vendors. Systems and services provided by Stargate have helped over 1 million Australians find their perfect home loan worth in excess of $400 Billion dollars of lending. Stargate’s success can be attributed to an ongoing commitment to delight its large customer network through continual innovation and quality profit-maximising solutions.

Extensive Industry Knowledge and Experience

Stargate continues to develop innovative systems and solutions for the Australian Mortgage industry because of our 40 year commitment to the mortgage industry. As a result of our long standing participation in the industry, we have seen changes that have had both positive and negative effects on the mortgage industry. Our commitment to the industry (which our chairman made when he co-founded the MFAA more than 30 years ago) was to provide services and solutions that would provide enhancements to an industry participant’s business and enable them to provide better service to their end customer (being the borrower).

In following this mantra, Stargate was one of the first companies to build IT and software systems specifically and exclusively for the Australian mortgage markets specialising in five key IT areas of the mortgage chain:

  • Automated Loan Underwriting systems for lenders,
  • CRM Solutions for Brokers & Aggregators,
  • Point of Sale software for Brokers,
  • Online Mortgage Industry news for all industry participants and
  • custom developed solutions for lenders such as the ANZ Broker Toolkit.

We now focus on Mobility solutions for Brokers that facilitate a smarter, faster sales process. Each segment of the technology business has been created with the single goal of improving the process flow along the mortgage chain to provide the end customer a quicker decision to their loan application. We are continually striving to reach the goal of human intervention-free loan processing from point of application to settlement and believe that with the enhancements to current offerings, this will be available in the coming years.

We believe that Consumer technology solutions that empower consumers with the tools to choose their best mortgage are non-existent and will begin to develop and release products on portable devices that provide them with the power to make the buying process better.

Stargate creates first web based Extranet, Self Service Portal and Telephone Banking for non-bank mortgage lenders.
